This post is about a person who was one of the most famous and influential spiritual leader. He is none other than Swami Vivekananda.
He was the disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. He later founded of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. In the Hindu reform movement he was the figure.
He introduced Yoga and Vedanta to America and England with his lectures and seminars. Vivekananda was the first Indian sage to introduce eastern thoughts to World’s Parliament of Religions. In this lecture he started with “Sisters and Brothers of America”, this made peoples to clap for nearly two minutes just for his introduction, before the start of speech. This speech has brought fame for him in Chicago and later other parts of America.
From his childhood he had a gifted brainpower and intense memory. He practised meditation from his early life. He had photographic memory and he could read entire book in minutes.
When he went to college, many questions raised in his mind about the existence of god. After this series of doubts he joined Brahmo samaj and attended various religious meetings. But this could not satisfy him. And he started asking question to leaders of Brahmo Samaj but there answer didn’t satisfy him. Then his college principle told him to meet Sri Ramakrishna Paramhamsa, to clear his doubts.
