Olympic torch : London protest

On Sunday the 06 April 2008, Olympic torch was invited with widespread protest and scuffle between police and demonstrators. The seen was more like an protest against the recent issues of china with Tibet.

I was watching in the television that few demonstrators tried to snatch the Olympic torch from the runners and even one of the demonstrator tried to put off the flame with fire extinguisher.

I learned through news that atleast  three dozen of protestors were arrested for disrupting the torch relay.

Security persons have to cut short the torch relay in London, after the heavy protest. It has to go thorough 31 miles. But most part of the relay was covered by carrying the torch in bus.

I don't agree in mixing sports with the politics. Olympic game is the biggest sporting event and it is not only for China but it is for the entire world. Mixing the politics into torch relay in London and Paris won't make any changes in the China nor Tibet is going to get independence.

I am not going to comment about the china and Tibet stand, I will rather prefer to stay away from this talk. I think this is utter waste of energy and time to try and convince those radical people.

But China would have never thought of getting into the trouble so much. It would have thought of making huge money by conducting the game. China  is now trapped in its own trap.

We have to appreciate Tibet for using the conditions in their favour. Through this they have attracted the entire world to look into them and have attracted the human rights for their support.

I am sure such demonstration won't even a minute difference to china. I believe if we want to support Tibet really then we can do that by simple way i.e. just by boycotting cheap electronic and household goods imported from china. This way will really make a difference to china rather than going on streets and protesting.

Finally, awarding Olympic games host to the China was the biggest mistake.

"WE NEED PEACEFUL OLYMPICS"

  1. It's not surprising that people will have a grudge against communist nations such as China, and when something small ignites and is known worldwide, they will go all out on it.

The west supports the Tibet's cause and uses that boycott the Olympic games, whereas the Tibets use the support gain from the west to justify their cause. It's a win-win situation for both the west and the Tibets.

Meanwhile, there are rumours that Tibets are using the west support to cause more violence, while the west misled the communities with edited media. China on the other hand often only shows reports on how violent the rioters are. Neither side are telling the truth or are "right", because both are being very one-sided. Media transparency is almost unheard of (for me especially) for this event.
